I had surgery

Postby Kurt » Wed Sep 04, 2019 11:43 pm

Hernia. Minor stuff. Still cannot lift anything. I was operated on by a giant spider-bot called DaVinci.

Cool. As. Hell.

I really wanted to be awake for it so we could have Christmas cards taken care of.

Had a hernia fixed that I got from lifting a wet bag of topsoil. I had an "innie" it became an "outie" and now it is an "innie" again and all is right with the world except I cannot lift heavy things and I realize how much of my identity is centered around lifting heavy things for people.

In two weeks the grocery bags of neighborhood old ladies will be carried once more.

Hernia as in wedged-in-between-vertebrae-nerve? Major owie. Glad to hear you are doing okay. Try and save some of the painkillers.

I used Medical Cannabis for pain and I had a prescription to Oxy. I used 1 oxy pill for the whole thing and the rest I used medical cannabis for pain. I never got high really it just relieved pain, made me hungry and allowed me to sleep. I actually did not expect it to work as well as it did.

But you are thinking of what we call in the US "herniated disk" and I just had an "umbilical hernia" (my naval started poking out) and it was more uncomfortable than painful. It felt like I had swallowed a finger and that finger was trying to poke out of me.

I had a couple of inguinal hernias a while back, probably even less painful than yours unless you coughed. Can't remember much about the surgery except it was under a local, and had time after to finally watch Kurosawa's Ran and a bunch of Bond movies.

Had one of those. Opted for standard procedure and just local anaesthetic. I remember that long drives were goddamned uncomfortable.

I asked for local simply because I wanted to see the DaVinci slice into me.

Apparently that is what medical professionals classify as "a bad idea" since the machine works best when the person is completely immobile. The thing I hated was the feeling in my throat when they had a tube down it.

Yup, been there, can't remember what for but I do recall the damn tube. Very unpleasant. No future for me in gay porn....

It sucks as you get older and more and more options for revenue are cut off.

I have to say that those mentholated "Ricolah" lozenges helped quite a bit. Normally I think of those things as over-priced candy but I have to say that for porn or surgery induced throat injuries they do work.

I have. I can lift things that are lighter than a really fat cat.

Well, if drugs/medicine didn't work people wouldn't be using them ;-)

You can boil down cartilage, skin comes off of it's self but you shouldn't be eating bones. I am glad the inconvenience was relatively minor.

Shit. All they gave me after was Tylenol. But I heard an inguinal hernia repair is less painful.

Kurt, I wish you a speedy recovery. Take care of yourself, sir.
