Greetings from Pakistan

Postby crotalus01 » Mon Feb 10, 2020 3:55 am

Hey BFCers, thought a travel related post would be a nice change. Crossed from India to Pakistan at Wagah 5 days ago, spent some time in Lahore, Gurjamwala, Fracisabad, Rawalpindi and Islamabad. On a bus to Peshawar and the Afghan border as I write this. Cheers everyone!

Doing that on the way back to India on Friday. Really loved Peshawar and the Tribal areas. Tried for Torkum but they kicked us back at the border - seems they have cracked down on Pashtuns taking guests back and forth even for day trips.

A guy I work with from Peshawar area says I would love Pakistan and that the food and hospitality in the area are outstanding. He says the old free for all markets that sold everything and everything are being or have been shut down by the government, but the scenery in the north is incredible, lots of tribal pockets still, even mentioned a long lost tribe of green eyed descendants of Alexander the Great living in some valley. Sounds interesting.

Sounds like fun! Are you headed up to Gilgit or thereabouts?

Bab, you'd need to head up the Kailish areas in NW Pakistan to run into the descendants.
